How HRT Rebooted My Life and Libido – One Hormone at a Time

HRT hit me like a chart-topping comeback—one of those instant earworms you can’t get out of your head. HRT isn’t just a medical acronym to me anymore; it’s a groove that’s turned my whole life up to 11, and I’m itching to take it on tour.

A sun-kissed revelation ☀️

April was “gloriously sunny and warm, what a treat!” and the perfect backdrop for my latest remix—my own hormones.

After bouncing between consultations, I fired up a fresh set-list of bio-identical and body-identical hormones. I used to think you pressed stop on HRT once the hot flush playlist cooled down. Wrong remix, baby!

“I started to get symptoms I didn’t even have during Perimenopause and Menopause, like the sudden heat flushes and sleeplessness… Turns out they were just hormone fluctuations affecting me.”

So I tweaked the dosage—progesterone every other night, oestrogen cream on alternating evenings, a shea boost every second day—and within a week the beat dropped:

“I have to say my sleep is delicious now, deep and soft and fulfilling… I just feel … Good, Calmly good, not excited jumping up and down good but that gentle breezy deep breath and sigh good…”

Why I’m climbing onto a soapbox

When you learn that balanced hormones can help fend off bone loss, heart disease and even some cancers, you stop waiting for symptoms and start demanding better baseline health. And get this:

Spotlight on Black and Ethnic Women 🎤

Too many sisters in Black and other ethnic communities still skip the consultation queue—sometimes out of mistrust, sometimes because no one’s singing their song.

That changes this June. I’m teaming up with two hormone-therapy experts—one specialising in black and ethnic women—and a backstage crew determined to make everything accessible, relatable and totally non-intimidating.
